I recently had my Quill bearing replaced on my manual '01 SC2. In the process they resurfaced the pressure plate and repalced the flywheel and clutch - all under warranty. Almost immediately after that I could hear a rattling/vibration between the 2900 - 3100 RPM range.
This would only happen in that specific band and only while the car was moving. If I tried to replicate it during a stationary revving it would not occur. Well it seems to be getting louder. It will now vibrate during a stationary revving around 2700 RPM. My dad could not hear it outside with the hood open from the engine compartment. I could definetely hear it from the drivers seat though. Although when I first noticed the problem dad thought I was crazy because he never heard it until recently - one indication that it has gotten worse. If this weekend is nice I will check some of the ideas and suggestions mentioned in this thread. Any other ideas as to the cause? Thanks, Bill |

I replaced the water pump, that was the problem. Thanks for all the help though.
