'01 SC2 Hood latch question(s)

So i rear ended a RAV4 and the damage is only to my hood and the hood latch, I lucked out (sort of) the closest yard to me has a 2002 with the same color hood available for $175 () but I'm trying to find the hood latch assembly for my car and they want to charge me $100 since they won't remove theirs from the radiator support bar .

Ebay has a whole bunch of latches for a much easier to swallow price, I'm wondering if the 3rd gen latch is different from the 1st and/or 2nd gen design because sadly that's all Ebay has (91-00)

I checked a search and didn't find anything in the swap guide, but someone did mention that the 2nd and 3rd gen SC's have swappable hoods (so latches would also be identical obviously)... It was only commented on by one member so I'd want a second opinion before I'd buy one of the ebay latches.

I have the hood, looks great. Just can't drive it anywhere without a latch

I was playing with latches this weekend, the gen 3 latch had a different handle than the gen 2 so I could not go backwards . The hood release handle was taller. So I would suspect that the release handle would be shorter on the gen 2 and would not work for you. Mechanically they are the same but looks like a pita to switch handles.

Damn, not what I was hoping to hear , thanks for letting me know. I guess the search continues...

I love my 3rd gen but they're tougher to find dead and cheap with parts
