p0304 cylinder 4 misfire error code and P0106 MAP/Barometric

I recently bought a used saturn ION. Everything was working great until i changed out the plugs. I bought new plugs Installed Everything sounded great after that. But When i drove it home from where i did the work at i noticed some very little pops coming out the exhaust.. not very loud pops but little small ones. Also when i have the engine hood open and have my hand on the engine it jumps a little when the little pops happen. 1 thing i never felt right about when changing the plugs was The coil pack seating correctly when i put it back on ... are u suppose to hear a pop when u slip the boots on? I know something is wrong as a whole because the car just doesnt perform like when i bought it and the sparkplugs are in there trust me so it has be the coil boot i think im just not sure. Im also getting P0106 MAP error code but i think that is because the cylinder 4 is not firing right so its not getting good pressure in the manifold. IF it was cylinder 4 injector you would get a different error code right?

what kind of plugs did you buy? did you set the gap right?

no, you will not hear pop when installing the coil pack.I would not drive the car like this, it sounds like you might be detonating or pre igniting.

i bought OEM ac delco IRIDIUMS put gap at .045
also like to note i put premium gas in the tank since i bought it . I have only had it long enough to fill up the tank 4 times... u think injector is bad or its not liking the premium gas??? :P

yes, if you have the stock iridium plugs (not the platinum ones) and your engine runs like it should, your plugs should last 100K miles. I believe the earlier ions came with platinum plugs, which do not last as long. check your manuals to confirm. inspections for gap and completeness of the electrodes should be done at 50K, 75K, and 100K, also, if they smell like gas or oil, you have a problem. on 2.2s and 2.4s, .043 is the gap, 2.0s are .040. do not put bosch plugs in these engines, iridium plugs come pre gapped and are NOT gap adjustable, you will damage the plug if you try this.

in the manual it says 0.045 is the gap for 2.2L.
I had to gap some of the plugs even tho they were pre gapped some were way off ....

if you had to gap them, they were possibly damaged. they are not supposed to need gapping.
