Default How is misfire detected on Saturn SOHC?

This is a question for all you tech savy guys. Exactly how does the ECU determine engine misfire on the SOHC? Is it time interval on the teeth on the crankshaft?

Thanks in advance.

Try Differentracing.com for the technical explanation. There's another site also that rehashes the same basic information about electronically detecting misfires.

The short answer is the time difference between a given pair of notches with the engine at a constant RPM.
