Trouble with Transmission Trouble Codes
A co-worker asked me to try fixing the reverse slam in her ‘95 SL2. Reverse didn’t seem to be slipping once it engaged so I decided to try wolfman’s fix this time instead of changing the valvebody and tightening the shafts. Wolfman’s procedure didn’t change anything, and come to find out there were more problems going on that she didn’t tell me about. Aside from the reverse slam the trans shifts fine when cold, but once it gets hot (about two miles and half a dozen stops signs from her house) it starts to shift slowly (revving up between shifts) and it skips 3rd gear altogether. Coolant temp is around 200 when this happens, and it will eventually climb to ~220 and hang there for the remainder of the drive.
For kicks, I pulled the codes before I ever started working on it. It only showed a code 22 at that point. After I finished the procedure I took it for a test drive. The SES light came on as soon as the trans started acting up so I drove it back to her house and pulled the codes again. Strangely the code 22 wasn’t there, but a host of new codes had appeared. There are even some codes that don’t seem to exist. The only chart I’ve been able to find is the one at differentracing.com http://www.differentracing.com/tech_...ttc_chart.html
Anyway…Where would you guys start with this mess?
Engine codes: 12, 11, 26
Trans codes: 22, 23, 24, 25, 71, 79, 96, 97
