Default Front Bumper Bottom Panel Rivets

Hello again-

Would anybody have the part number for the three rivets that hold the bottom panel attached to the front bumper up to the car?

bumper bottom by cindycated, on Flickr

Car was impounded last month and the towing guys did something funky to the front bumper. Now that bottom panel is just dangling down there. Everytime I hit a bump, it screws up the transmission controls/sensors and I get codes P0700 and P0701. Hopefully I'll stop getting those codes once the bumper bottom is reattached to the car.

Thanks!

I just took a look at our Astra 5-door automatic. It seems to have the following:

- 2x plastic fascia rivets on the outside holes
- 1x metal screw on the center hole (8-10mm?)

In the detail below, these fasteners look like items below, #5 and #15, respectively:

https://www.gmpartscenter.net/v-2008...mponents-front

Our bumper has been removed a few times so it is possible that our fasteners are not OEM.

You might find generic fasteners at the local shop.

I can't help much with the transmission codes. The Asin automatic transmission is very good. A few weak points on the Astra automatic are unrelated to Asin:

- The bushing which connects the interior selector cable to the transmission casing tends to fail. We purchased the repair part from bushingfix.com. They have videos describing the problem.

- Defective radiator mixes transmission oil & coolant. Coolant should be transparent (redish) and not have oil or look like a chocolate milkshake.

A few of the sensors are outside the transmission box.

Thank you so much, AstraFasta - I've contacted a few GM parts places with no replies - so glad I have you guys to ask.

Panel's still dangling and we're at our crazy quarter-end at work, but got as far as ordering the parts you pointed out. After I posted this question, I noticed a couple more threads with people wondering the same thing, so hopefully this answers the question for anyone else that wanders by.

I managed to snap the top part of the fallen bumper panel back into place and, as long as I'm very careful not to hit any bumps to knock it loose again, I haven't seen the transmission codes pop back up. I'm guessing there are sensors attached to or affected by the front bumper somehow.

I'll update with any progress.

Hi, just an update:
Finally got around to trying out part #s 9130754 (rivets) and 11561969. These didn't work.

There are three identical holes on the axle body that this bumper fascia flap attaches to. The hole diameter is 6mm (according to my cheapo caliper). The rivets above fit perfectly in this hole, but are way too short. I also found this, so it's 3 rivets:
Install the front fascia.
• Install the external temperature (arrow) to the ventilator grill.
• Install the 3 body-bound rivets to the lower front axle body.
• Install the 2 body-bound rivets to the upper front bearer.
• Install the 4 right and left bolts.
I came across this part number: 90508809
The dims look about right. This part is discontinued, but aftermarket versions are pretty easy to get. Does anyone have access to a parts catalog/parts diagram that would show that this might be the right part? I haven't been able to find any other info.

Went back to AstraFasta's parts diagram and saw that 90508809 is on the list, so feeling pretty good about it now. Went ahead and ordered some - I'll post back if they fit. I hope so - just seems like expanding rivets would be so much easier than doing the whole McGyver thing again.

This particular part is a sore point for me. I understand these parts are not available individually, but with a new bumper only.....And we know there are not many around about now.

A while back, I posted how because of these missing parts and my ability to find suitable replacements, that my bumper got caught and stripped off by a higher than normal concrete parking stop. My body shop found a new OEM part with the 3 matching correct retaining pieces, but could not find spares.

After a few months, they came out and I was presented with the same problem...Having the bumper stripped off very easily this time because it was hanging down so low, like yours.

At Harbor Freight, they sell big, fat long zip ties in black and opaque white, just $2 or so for 10. Not very elegant, but much stronger than what was there. For the last year, I have had a very successful repair using three of those. It is solid and I have three more on the back of the car, just in case . I may post some pictures tonight.
