A little back story... I worked in a hospital, and in the lab all those massively expensive machines had to stay COLD... The med techs who ran all the testing on those machines were constantly freezing... so they would go to our side of the lab and turn the heat up on us. We kept putting it back, as we had to run all over the hospital and we were always burning up... Another guy and I would still be overheated even in the med tech area... Joke was that we would be the only two people in ALASKA, that would turn the air conditioner ON....

So a few days ago, I was working on the car, it is hot as hell, so getting pissed off at the pain, the lower doses of pain killers (damn DEA) and the heat NOT a good combo... Okay so I got pissed off , so I slowly added a little of the Freon into the car while it ran... The gauge on BOTH cans show its full, but only a little cold, added more the air coming out colder, I got it back to what it was before the gasket shot out... today I added a little more... Ah this A/C is so cold I am freezing and have to lower the temp... (Reason for the job story) Damn cans said it was overfull before the a/c even got warm.... Had I not been pissed off, I would still have hot air coming out of the vents...

As I said above, being a chronic pain patient for 11 years now. I tend to get mean or just a huge ass when I am hurting so I apologize for anything I did wrong. Thank You All !

I can't imagine being on pain meds. While not knowing your personal details, is CBD oil anywhere to be considered? My allergies allowed me to experiment for years with over the counter drugs, leaving me with either more congestion and runny nose or stuffed head. I won't go into times I felt 'wired' like having thirty cups of coffee. Useless drugs. Even when prescribed moderate pain meds for root canal work, I felt my head was stuffed with a cloudy outlook until the meds wore off. Targeting specific pain is a science sometimes mixed with art.

Some things not mentioned in ac repairs are gauge needles as refrigerant is added. When a system is refilled thru the suction side, low side gauge needle is expected to fluctuate wildly due to the refill can (pressure) forcing gas into the low side. Shutting off feed stops the uneven pressure fluctuations while the system stabilizes when low and high side pressures are observed. Adding more refrigerant always throws off low side readings. High side readings tends to climb steadily since gas is continually compressed and banked in the condenser coils, waiting for the txv to feed precise amounts into the evaporator coils to generate cold.

Experience relies on knowing what's expected. Lack of it can lead to frustration where patience helps in developing experience and insight. Hopefully all your work continually rewards you with cold air.

Wait, did CBD help with your congestion from allergies? I have to take Claritin-D if I want to be able to breathe through my nose. I'm in Colorado though so CBD is definitely an option for me.

When I replace o-rings in a system, or put a new compressor on this is the pump I use.

https://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt...p_1.5_cfm.html

I pull the vacuum on it, let it sit for about 20-30 minutes just to make sure there are no leaks at all. Then I hook up my gauges, bought them at Autozone for around 80 bucks and use just the normal cans of freon, no sealer, no oil or anything like that and let the vacuum in the system pull the freon in slowly until it will not pull anymore in. Then start the car and turn the compressor on. I can generally get almost a full can in just with the vacuum in the system before having to start up the car. Use the chart I have posted as a guide when reading low and high numbers on the gauges. My Saturn is blowing out 40* air out of the vents right now and works wonderful. I'm using the original dryer, original condenser but I did have to replace my a/c compressor (the shaft seal went out).

Year round allergies forced me to experiment with over the counter drugs for severe congestion, nasal drips, red itching eyes and tearing. This was thirty years ago. Visiting my allergist alleviated most of these experiments as I learned what works and what doesn't. I'm not a proponent of cbd oil as a cure for allergies as I don't believe its usefulness for seasonal allergies. I would have to research more to see if pot oil reduces allergies. I'm not that desperate to rely on unsubstantiated studies (if it exists) based on hearsay to use cbd oil for allergy relief. My question about using cbd oil was directed to the op for pain medication as a consideration among pain meds.

My monthly allergy shots are sometimes bolstered with a generic over the counter antihistamine, fexofendine hcl, less expensive than Allegra. I don't recommend any drugs as each individual reacts differently to drugs when a medical specialist is better informed and feedback helps each person to have a customized health plan. I take f-hcl only when I really need it.

I have had seasonal allergies a very long time. Sneezing and wheezing so much I cannot breathe... Tried ALL of the OTC allergy meds, then went into popular prescription meds, it was like eating M&Ms... then one great PA-C prescribed an anti-itch medication, no more major seasonal allergy attacks (other than food) Hydroxyzine
