lift gate stuck

The lift gate on my 2005 relay is closed and I can't open it. How would I do so manually. It has happened a couple of times before but I would just try pulling the latch occasionally and it would open but not any more. There is no longer a dealer in my area. My key fob doesn't work either since replacing battery so really lost as to how to open lift gate. Thank you

did you try unlock button from inside car? any gm dealer should be able to help. same tailgate as chev, buick, old pontiac co etc.

Try pushing the liftgate into the minivan instead of pulling when pressing on the release handle, using two hands. Sometimes liftgates jam from wear and tear so doing the opposite may help unjam a stuck latch as you're relieving pressure on the latch mechanism. If you are successful opening the l/g, examine the door seal and latch for anything that looks out of the ordinary and decide if a little lube is needed (latch mechanism) or a trip to any GM dealer is necessary.
