A new book entry has been added:

[drupal=3349]2010 Buyer’s Guide: Saturn Repackages Options, Adds Limited-Configuration Trim Levels to its Smaller Three Model Lineup[/drupal]

Quote:

Saturn is taking a less-is-more approach for the 2010 model year. For starters, the brand has dropped the low-selling compact Astra hatchback and Sky roadster from its lineup, allowing retailers to focus on selling the three most popular models: the Aura, Outlook, and Vue.

I finall saw one of the Astra hatchbacks on the road today, a shiny new red one. I rather like the looks of them, but there goes that idea...

Still waiting on the 4-cyl/5-sp Aura. Looks like the new XV model won't offer a manual gearbox either.

It's not alone these days. If you make having a manual transmission a requirement for buying a new car your options dwindle considerably right off the bat. My father had this exact problem when he finally killed his '92 Jetta and had to go shopping for a new car. Most of the stuff that he found outwardly interesting flat out isn't available with a stick shift. To add insult to injury, many makes these days (Honda, etc.) actually charge extra to get a model with a stick shift as opposed to one with an automatic.

Riddle me that one, Batman...
