2006 VUE Red Line
2007 SKY
Default 10 Best Discontinued Cars

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...ontinued-cars/

Snip...

With automakers finally starting to reel in their rebates, $4,000 off the price of any new Saturn sounds like a sweetheart deal. The hefty discount brings the starting price of the sexy Sky roadster down to the low 20s, making it one of the cheapest sporty convertibles on the market. And it drops the price of the seven-seat Outlook crossover to the mid-20s, a great price for a well-equipped family hauler.

The come-ons, however, omit one discouraging fact: Saturn is going out of business. Parent company General Motors has pledged to service all Saturn vehicles indefinitely, through other dealerships, but smart car buyers know that the true value of a car also depends on what it will be worth in a few years, if you decide to sell it. And the resale picture has never been hazier.

The article is lame. Most of the vehicles listed haven't been officially discontinued yet.

The resale picture is crystal clear. Orphan cars never have been and never will be worth spit until the few remaining attain classic status.

Me either, but knowing the entire line of cars and not just a model line has disappeared doesn't encourage me to buy and it does affect perceived value.

Also, knowing GM has and is continuing to take and burn through forced tax payer bailout funds, the UAW owns a large portion of the company, and that GM itself may not be around in a few years are all reasons to avoid an orphaned GM brand.

The only car on that list that would remotely interest me is the G8, and if the lack of two cylinders is a deal breaker, move on, nothing to see but V6s.

I am curious as to why the Hyundai Veracruz is included there. The most obvious competitors IMO are the Honda Pilot and GM's Lambdas.
