Default timing chain do pull chain after I turn crank 3 oclock

Do U leave old chain still on and turn both the cam and crank to 3 oclock then pull my old chain off . Or do u line up 12 oclock crank and cam pull chain then turn crank by itself to 3oclock turn

When do U pull the old chain before or after I turn the crank to 3 oclock?

I have sohc engine I want to know if i leave the old chain on then turn crank cause a youtube video show the crank turn without chain?

Three o clock , means all the pistons are in a safe place from the valves.

Oh sohc

Same rules should apply.

I know on the dohc engines, there's a hole each cam sprocket, that lines up to hole in head, where you can insert drill bit. I bet the sohc has same type of set up. But I'm getting ahead of myself here.

I'd go with 3. Just to be extra safe.

--Turn crank to 3:00 position

--Remove chain guides and tensioner

--Remove chain

--Remove center sprocket bolt by holding cam with open end wrench on flats provided

As long as crank is at 3:00 you may freely rotate the cam.

If you PM me your email I will sent you a link to the procedure.
