I too lose a small amount of coolant but only in the coldest months of winter. When it starts to get into the single digits or less and the car sits outside long enough to completely cool, it will drip a little coolant. I've traced it to the area of the intake manifold gasket on the drivers side end of the engine. It leaks real close to the top of the engine. I've only tried to find the source once. The problem is that it has to be so cold out for it to happen that I don't feel like messing with it and freezing half to death. Last winter was not that cold and I don't remember it ever leaking. This winter I'm going to try to find out what the problem is. At least I have a low coolant light to warn me.

...
When I was younger I drove a lifted 4x4 truck with over sized tires. Needed a ladder to get into it. Now at 55 I drive an SL2 and need a ladder to get out.

i took it as a good sign. the first one off that line lasted my car nearly 17 years. the 2nd should last till she dies.

and, DJ, it's fine by me, just poking some fun.

That was the way I looked at it. A few extra bucks for something known to last at least 14-15 years on average is money well spent IMO. None of the aftermarket units have really been used long term, so the lifespan hasn't really been well tested yet.
