Keep your tires inflated properly, don't drive with a heavy foot (moving mass uses gas, so try to keep momentum and don't speed), use mid level grade gas - it helps just a bit. Past that, anything else out there that claims to increase your gas mileage is probably just trying to come between you and your wallet.

I do the ordinary things - drive as though I have a soft-boiled egg between my foot and the gas pedal; don't go too far over the speed limit; I also like to "play" with the Driver Info. centre and get the best mileage it will allow. Cruise control(yeah, sometimes in the city - love to see the reaction of other drivers!) really helps on long hauls. Controlled tire pressure also ups the mileage. Try not to let the engine warm up too long - bad for the parts and the mileage.

on 'takeoff' if on average the rpms are less than 2000 that helps vs racing the car next to ya to the next red light !

I've actually had 4 fillups which calc'd over 30mpg, when travelling across the prairies on a couple road trips (july & sept.) .
