1993 SW2
Default Extinct Car Day 2015 at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Five of us again attended the Extinct Car Day yesterday (Saturday, October 24, 2015). Missing from last year was Jsevinsk (We missed you!).

In the attached picture are (from left to right): 700+SL2's 1993 SW2, dummo's 1997 SW2, a guy named Raoul (more about him later)'s 2000 SL1, my "Rozzie" the 1993 SW2 art car and I-4's 1994 SL2.

Raoul, a good-natured guy, and his (girlfriend? wife? friend? Not sure, but his extremely attractive and pleasant female companion) had intended to show up at the event as spectators, but on arrival, the crew waved them into the show, pointing out to them where the Saturns were. So Raoul's SL1 became a part of the show.

Here's hoping he finds his way to this web site.

As with last year, the response of the other people in the show, whether entrants or spectators was overwhelmingly positive toward our presence there. People had a lot of positive things to say about Saturn S-series cars.

This year, I put together a poster board with stories about my car, Saturn in general and the history of the art on my car. Next time, I hope to have an easel to put the poster board on so it could be seen more easily.

Also in attendance was a fascinating array of other cars from a beat-up rusty 1959 Edsel (whose owner spent a lot of time with us and who is embarking on a restoration of the car) to a Delahaye (1948-ish) which in the condition of the car at the show can sometimes fetch a 7-digit price tag (see second and third photos).

Also included were a wide range of ages of cars from a Stanley Steamer to an Oldsmobile Alero.

A great time was had by all. I assume dummo made it home back to Connecticut safely and will be providing us with a group photo soon!

For those thinking about attending next year, mark your calendars for either 10/22/16 or 10/29/16 (not sure which it will be -- the 2016 schedule will be up on the website sometime around March of next year).

Thanks for posting the pictures Cityhawk. And Dummo, thanks for the buttons. You always surprise me /us with your swag. I had a good time, as usual. A few degrees warmer would have been ok.
I had one guy come up to me, snapped a picture of my car, and told me his brother in San Fran has one exactly like mine and was sending him the picture. Most all had positive things to say about the Saturn SL series.
I must admit the Delahaye was stunning to see in real life up close.

If you ever plan a trip to Boston - October 20 mid-ish is the time to come. The leaves are at their full color POP as well. Lots to do in Boston especially if you like American History.

Not only three wagons, but three first gens as well!

The Fiero belongs to a friend of mine who is also a member of Bay State Corvairs. He came over and hung with us a while.

QUESTION: Who has the real story on our 2 surprise attendees named Raoul and Femmy driving the dark green 2000 Saturn SL1?

From what I could understand they are car show enthusiasts and online paid 2 automobile entry fees ($15.00) accidentally instead of regular admission fees. Upon arriving were directed to the "Saturn Hill" and joined our pack. They had to somehow make it to the show vehicles entrance so maybe the person working the very first entrance table saw a Saturn coming and naturally or unnaturally assumed that their SL1 was entered.

Both were very nice people and maybe we will hear from them here on Saturnfans.com or even see them at the show next year.
