Thats how I got my fully loaded 5sp 95 SC2. Flew into MDW, took a taxi, drove it home. It didn't have 49 miles though, and it was't a Bumblebee, but I like my 95.

WOW how is that even possible?? who would buy such a beautiful car (im not crazy about the gen 3 SC's, but this is a DEFINATE exception) and just leave it garaged for that long?? wow, that blows my mind. I would flush that whole system after sitting that long though, I wouldn't be drivning it a million miles off the bat...

Somebody clearly understood the rarity of it and preserved it from the get-go. I'm curious why they are choosing now to sell it, given that its value in the curve will be at a relative low point about now and will go up more in the future.

I hope they find someone to buy it who also understands the value of it as a collector car and doesn't just buy it for a daily commuter car.

At least the '01's don't have too much for rubber vacuum lines with plastic fittings and rubber grommets to turn to crap making the engine not run simply because the car is 10 years old and the rubber has turned to crud.

Not sure I'd pay $10k for it (especially now that I've played with a couple of Subaru's that put everything the S-Series stands for to shame, other than MPG), but Bumblebee's are the only special S-Series I'd pay more than $500 for. Yellow is my favorite color, I can't help it. Only thing it's missing is the Expressions body kit, but that might have technically lowered it's value as it would no longer be 100% stock.

...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

It's plated in Illinois though. Doesn't say they are the original owner. Didn't we see this come up last year priced somewhere around $7000?

To register in Texas, you must have a safety inspection. Did the car come out of storage for inspection and registration? With only 49 miles over 13 years, non-operational would make more sense.

In one of the pics it is idling and it looks like the gas is full. Is that the original dealer tank of gas from 2001? Ok, maybe the owner put in stabilizer, but at best that will only keep the gas for two years. Do we really think the owner drained and refilled the tank every two years?

I thought the "xx/99" and the Bumble Bee were two different special editions. There were two different special edition yellow SC2s, right? And I don't remember either one having so much yellow in the interior (radio surround, console, etc). I would vet the VIN very thoroughly with this car.

Edit - confirmed; here's pics of Mike's (Low Saturn's) #97/99: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=161052 - note the more tasteful dash colors. So even if this is a "genuine" xx/99, it's been, er, altered, and thus its "original" value is about gone.

If these two vehicles are one in the same, it was first advertised for $20k and listed as having 85 miles "on the clock", I believe. Subsequently, the mileage went to "under 100" and the price dropped from $20k to $15K to $14K.

I haven't looked for it since then and was surprised to read the $9K comment in the original post.

As I recall, I did a KBB on it one time and added every option available. In "excellent" shape the high value wasn't much above $4K.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of finding a 13 year old "brand new" car is appealing, I'd love to have one and I'll probably be envious of whomever eventually buys it.

But, (at least for me) even at $9K, that's more than double it's value as a transportation vehicle (not to mention whatever $$$ it would cost to bring 13 year old new parts back into current new and reliable condition).

Definitely a car for a kid. I do not know any who wouldn't smash it within a year.
For all I know, the whole ad is Photoshoped at Pixar Studios. Anything on the Internet is Buyer Beware (kæviːɑːt ˈɛmptɔr).
Still, if it looks that good in person and seems like new parts, it is a good price.
