Default Extinct Car Day 2014 at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

It will be here before you know it. I know there are a number of Saturnfans in New England who aren't far from this museum. It's a cool little place with changing exhibits of cars inside, and the lawn events bring a wide array of cool cars. I was hoping to do it last year, but someone hit my car, disbling it just before this event.

http://larzanderson.org/events/lawn-...tinct-car-day/

So how about it? Dummo, Jsevinsk, Johnny95SL2... and a number of others I've seen posting here recently. It would be great to have a showing of Saturns, and it could be a little meetup event for us all.

Mark it on your calendars.

As an aside, on one of my vists to the museum with one of my daughters, the guy at the souvenir/checkin counter noticed my Saturn hat and asked if I was into Saturns. He has a 2002 SL1 he recently purchased which he then showed me in the parking lot. I showed him ROZZIE the crazy art car and told him about this site and offered him some Saturn S-series wisdom. Anyway, I told him that I was hoping to get some Saturn owners to the event and he thought it was a great idea and planned to come as well.

I agree Dummo. We have a couple of months to pull this off. I was thinking of making myself license plate frames from cafe press, though I imagine our logo doesn't shrink down small enough to fit.... perhaps just the words.

Larz Anderson is a cool place and the cars that show up for lawn events often include a nice variety. I do hope to get a nice turnout of Saturns.

It all depends. My current job makes it a no as I work weekends, but I'm looking at a new job that would allow it to be a yes as it means no more working weekends. Will know closer to the date. By then maybe Wednesday will be looking even prettier than normal.

I have it on my to do list this year. It would be nice to meet up. I sometimes have to work on Saturday's, but this year I really want to go. I have been to the Miata day at the Museum a few times, and have had a good time. It would be great if 3-4 or more Saturns could show up and park together. I bought my car from Saturn of Boston in 1994, not far from the Museum site on RT 1 , and I had no idea it would last this long.

Hey, that's cool... that was the old Saturn of Boston in the Clair compound in West Roxbury.... I bought my two new Saturns at Saturn of Norwood (further down route 1) which is where Saturn of Boston moved to when it outgrew the Clair complex (it was still run by the Clair family).

For now, we're set up ad a "social group" here on sf.com which can be accessed here: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/group.php?groupid=27

I'm hoping to move along the process of getting the club off the ground in the coming months.

For those in the midwest, there's an orphan car show in Ypsilanti, MI:

http://classiccars.com/Articles/LE_Orphan.aspx

I like the idea of piggybacking a meet up with a show like this because it increases exposure of our cars, gets people.to think of them as collectible cars, and it's fun for us because we get to check our the other cars in the event. It doesn't have to be extinct or orphan car shows, though those are a natural for us. But if there isn't a local orphan car show, perhaps you can try to find some other appropriate event.

In the Northwest is the Lemay auto museum (Tacoma, WA) which I haven't been to, but I'm told is great. I went to their website, but didn't see any orphan car events, though they do have cruises there.

The AMC club I was part of (has since fizzled out) used to have their show there...last one was in 97....this does sound like a lot of fun & isn't too far for me....not that my wagon has ANY business on a show field!!!!
