Default subframe bolt torque; belt tensioner

Does anyone know the torque values for the subframe bolts (18 mm socket)? Seems that I can't find this in my *cough* comprehensive Haynes booklet...

Also, does anyone have a drawing showing the belt tensioner? I think mine is bad, but would like to see how it is attached to the engine before I mess with it.

Thank you!

Re: Belt tensioner

Two bolts. *****es to take off as they're likely rusted in place.

Top bolt accessible from the top (10mm i think). Long handle needed or you'll shred your knuckles.

Bottom bolt accessible from below (through the wheel arch). You'll need to push the adjuster out of the way too. But as mine was broken that was simple.

For me the bottom bolt was seized solid. Ended up drilling the head off and welding the tensioner to the bolt left on the engine.

Also I couldn't insert the new tensioner because the frame rail to the engine was too narrow (probably twisted chassis). Had to remove the 'pulley' using an impact wrench in inserted after the body of the tensioner was in place.

This was odd because the old tensioner came out without a problem.

Wolfman posted all the S-series torque specs here
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...ghlight=torque

Says cradle to body bolts are 151 ft/lbs - not 100% sure these are the ones you're talking about, but seems like a good guess

Pretty good pic of the tensioner here, pic by Hunt4Steve in his rebuild thread

(tensioner is the left most black pulley)

edit: circled the tensioner bolts in his pic - and (unless someone has been mucking things up) they are indeed 10mm like proveniebam said

Like Proven said.

Make sure to use a 10mm 6 point socket. You can also remove the top engine mount and jack the engine up to give yourself plenty of room.

I made this just now:
