2002 L-Series 3.0L Sedan
Default Body Control Module

My L200 has about 74k. The first weird symptom was that the Security system was engaged with the key fob, it would not let you in with the key fob. Had to use the key. The dash lights flashed on and off during the 10 minute drive home. I removed the battery cable and it seemed to work fine after it reset. That particular symptom occurred twice in a few weeks. Lately, the BCM emits a static sound when the lights are on only. I removed the BCM and checked for poor connectors/connections. Reconnected and the noise is still present when the lights are on. the noise is coming from the door chime transducer/speaker on the BCM board. I don't wasnt to spend $500 or so for a BCM replacement until I am certain it is going bad. Also, It the BCM going bad, or is it just a minor hiccup? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks! Mark

You might have to bite the bullet on this one.
It sure sounds like a BCM. I would take it to the dealer and see if that door chime is causing some issues first.

BTW, while you may get a BCM somewhere else, you still need the dealer to reprogram it, and any key fobs you have.

Bik,
Thanks for the post. I may wait until more symptoms get worse. Only the buzzing door chime transducer(speaker) so far. Just annoying, but not screwing anything up yet.

Prepare for the worst.
A member here posted one time of horns honking & lights flashing while his car was parked.

When mine went, the odometer read 628,000 miles.
I had only 41k.
