A 26 by itself usually indicates a bad or failing CCP (charcoal cannister purge) solenoid. Its located on the back of the engine under the intake manifold.

But it could be one or more of eight different things.
OK. I finally worked through the whole diagnostic with everything checking out. EGR solenoid resistance is at 40.6 ohms.

Now let us assume for a moment that I have no idea of what a purge solenoid looks like or where it is located............... Please help!

On a related note, who on earth thought it made sense to combine the fuel line bracket with the EGR mounting bolts? After removing and cleaning the EGR twice, this bracket is so bent up that it is only a cut hazard.

By the way: 94 SL1 Automatic - 160k miles

On the top of the throttle body there is 2 small vacuum lines that lead down behind the engine, follow these and they will lead to the canister solenoid. Very hard to see from the bottom, you will be working by feel most of the time unless you remove the starter. It is held on by a single 10mm bolt, keep track of which line goes where.
Richpin06 also has a video of it that was very helpful, probably in the sticky in the how to library.

Why would it be important to know which line goes where, doesn't it just open a vacuum to the engine when energized?
