Question after I've replaced my ignition switch
2006 ION 3 - had the cold day won't start problem for a few years before finding out about it here.
I have replaced the switch, done the re-learn thing and it's running great.
My question is about the fit of the replacement switch. The old switch came out easy enough. I had to gently wiggle it a bit with the key in the RUN position.
However, the new switch seemed to not want to go into the slot very easily. I lined it up right, had the key in the same position, but the plunger in the center seemed to give a LOT more resistance than the old (original) switch. If I didn't press down on it, the switch wanted to float about 2mm out of the socket.
When I turn the key, it has the slightest catch at each position, but I can still turn it without forcing it.
Was there a big step I missed somewhere in there?
