Default car electronics

maybe an odd question...
but where are you guys getting your electronics?
the only places i reall know of are car toys, crutchfield, sprawl mart, and frys/outpost.

i feel like i might be getting ripped off by only going through these, and not having the option to really price-shop. any other sources, online or in-store?

SonicElectronix is cheap, never used their site though. I have a 'flea market' by me that sells everything, so I get my audio and stuff there cheap. Its probably stolen from Detroit when I get a 500 dollar sub for like 100 brand new, but whatever haha. They come with warranties so its whatever haha.

When I got the new antenna cabling, I got the double-male ended cable from Car Toys off Amazon.com, it didn't take long to ship, and I didn't get ripped off I got the female-to-male extension cable from Auto Zone.

When I got the radio awhile back, it was from Best Buy.

define "electronics"? Audio? Security? Wiring? Odds & ends? All of the above?

I guess I've so far gotten most of my stuff secondhand, except my Pioneer stereo which I'm sure I paid too much for at Best Buy back in '99.

Depends on what you want, if you want above average equipment then usually a dedicated car audio shop or smaller shop is the ticket, if you want crap best buy/walmart is a good place. Online shopping is usually cheaper but be careful because a lot of the higher end companies (mtx for example) only sells remans online.

I've bought every piece of car audio/electronics within the past five years or so on eBay. In dash DVD players, CD players, Sirius tuners, cables, interconnect, dash kits, head rest monitors, amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, alarms, GPS, HID kits ect...

You just need to do your homework. I've got some great deals on brand new stuff from sellers with online stores. Ive probaby saved thousands of dollars.

audiowarehouseexpress.com

Many brands all for an amazing price very much lower than your local store.

You can get a 10" Rockford Fosgate T1 for 180 bucks or something rather than 300 at best buy.

One thing you learn is that the older, good quality electronics from the 90's last for virtually ever. I remember getting a Hifonics Brutus 1000bxd (1000rms@1ohm ) that did honestly around 900rms, but still I received it one year old for less than half MSRP ( I paid 170$ US shipped in 2004 ). It was a great amp and I kept it for a long time until my alternator started to hate me.

What im trying to say is that, even speakers can be bought used (I got a mint L7 12" for 150$ shipped in '05) and they will still be plenty useful, especially since most of us are not going for competition SPL levels.

I mean if your looking for a deck, you can get a classic Alpine cda-799x for probably 150$ shipped or so, that will audibly be a ton cleaner than most of todays decks with a full crossover network and time alignment (which is quite possibly the most useful option on a head unit).

Look around good luck!

knukonceptz.com (wiring)

darvex.com (accessories of all kinds)

^Ive ordered TONS of stuff from both of these without an issue and fast shipping.

mechman.com (cheapest place, period. for xs power batteries. free shipping...also extremely solid alternators, wouldnt run anything else. great customer service)

SonicElectronics isnt bad, got my headunit there
