Dizzy Sat SL1 P0301 CODE ROUGH IDLE

Hi to all my name is Mark I have a 2002 Saturn SL1 4Dr. Sd. with 50,000 miles original owner. My service engine light came on in the car some time ago with rough low idle and sulpher smell in exaust. Tune up performed with quality plugs, wires, upper O2 sensor, PVC Valve, air filter. After that was done still had rough idle and smell checked for code and came up with P0301, with that in hand I swaped coils from left to right and ran car again hopeing for a different cylinder code but still had same code. I then pulled of the module and had it tested and the module failed. With that in hand I replaced module and the car ran alot better no smell idle alsmost perfectly smooth with a occasional hiccup herd in the exhaust. Injectors cleaned and I still get the same code and if left at idle for long periods of time it will become rough but the smell is gone.

Any help ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thank You Mark

Take a can of carb cleaner and spray it on the intake manifold near the # 1 cylinder area. You should notice a change in the idle, the vehicle may even stall.

A leaky intake manifold gasket are common for the later generation SOHC engines.

Thankyou I will spray that area down today when I clean the TB and change the ECTS, I hope this will point to closeing the gap on this code and rough idle. Thankyou again,Mark.
