Where did you get them? New OE mounts are becoming rare. Too bad they're the frowny style though, they'll defiantly work better than aftermarket but they'll wear out a lot faster that the solid type OE mount.

I don't know exactly how much longer but I feel like it has to be a fairly big difference if Saturn only used that style mount for a few years before switching back to the original style due to failing too often.

My original frowny mount went 204,062 miles. I replaced it during the rebuild. I had no idea how bad it was.

Wrench Re: OEM Top Mounts Did I score?

Okay. Even if they were good for 100k/mi with less vibrations its better than Ebay $150 or $15-$35 aftermarket. I'm keeping two for sure. I have five total.

They last a year or less of normal driving. Spirited motoring is almost instantly fatal. They are worse than the non frowny DEA mounts from the parts store.

Did the frowny mounts have a different part # than 21012185?

They unfortunately shared a part number. Unfortunately because it makes it kinda hard to tell if you're getting the right one when buying an aftermarket one online.

Obviously because this link is what led me to believe I got lucky. I'm going to throw one on a SC2 I just picked up ( top mount is destroyed) and probably return the rest.

I wonder if you could squeeze some Hi-Temp GE Silicone (if such a thing exists) into the frown and see if it will hold up any better?

Never tried this myself, but basically:

1) tape off one side of the mount completely. Rub fingers on all contact points to press down on tape; idea is to keep stuff from leaking out this side

2) fill in all the voids (the frown, etc) with urethane from the non-taped side of the mount.

3) let the urethane dry/cure (a week?). Remove tape (may need to flip over and let the taped side cure/dry

Anything in a tube will never cure completely as that frown is too deep. You would have to fill it in layers. Polyurethane is the best approach and if you are determined then fill with casting polyurethane and it might actually last, if your dogbones have been rebuilt with poly inserts.

I was thinking of filling the void with 3M Windo-Weld Superfast Urethane 08609 .
Give it a week of cure time...
