Default Service light

My 01 SC has had the light on the couple of months I've owned it. I think all the dash lights are working I took a picture so if I'm wrong please tell me . What else could cause it to be on?

Which one is "the light" you are concerned about? Have you have the car scanned for codes?

The service light is the light that stays on. I was told it meant a light on the dash is burned out but I don't see this as the case hence why I posted a picture of the gauge cluster to see if anyone did see a warning light that wasn't lit up.

It's not a maintenance reminder light, it's a malfunction indicator light.

It indicates a non-emissions-related problem, like with something controlled
by the body computer module.

You'd need to scan the codes to know what it was.

Wrench light codes can only be read by a Tech II level tool, likely requires the Saturn specific add-on card as well.

In no particular order: Seatbelt, ABS (if equipped), Upshift (if manual trans), trunk/hatch open, low traction (if ABS equipped), turn indicators, DRL and high beam bulbs are not turned on in the pic.

Some of those are easy to test, others require pulling a fuse and/or the cluster.

dakota1820, can you take another snapshot of the gauges with the engine running (idle)?
