Default Wiper Motor on 2001 L200

Alright, so, This morning my wipers were going extremely slowly. Then, this afternoon, they stopped working altogether. There is a lot of resistance when I attempted to force them back down (they were mid sweep when they stopped working completely) so, I had to pull them all the way up, then push them all the way down. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this might be? I mean, It seems logical to me that it is the wiper motor, but, maybe its something that is easily fixable in the wiper motor? I don't want to have to pay $400 to fix this problem.

Thanks

The wiper motor is easy to get to after wiper arms and the plastic cowl cover are removed. The motor and wiper arm transmission assembly can be removed as a unit. The motor can then be removed and the transmission assembly can be checked for easy movement. You can check the motor by plugging it back in and operating the wipers. the motor should make 1 complete turn and stop when on intermitent. A remanufactured wiper motor can be had for around $125. The whole assembly will cost big bucks. The Chilton repair manual has a good description of removal. The hardest part is getting the plastic cowl cover tucked in properly at the windshield lower trim. -also- Make sure the ignition is off when connecting or disconnecting the wiper motor plug, the BCM can get wacky, if this happens unhook the battery for a while.
