Default "Smart" transmission

I;ve been hearing on and off about the Automatic Transmission "learning". Is there some sort of adaptive programming in the shifting algorithm? Does anyone have any information on this? Very curious. What sorts of things does it adjust for, and in what way?

Thanks
Avni

The Saturn Automotice transmission learns your shifting paterns and responds accordingly. It takes about 5000 miles for the transmission to fully adjust to your style of driving, but once it does, shifting is more percise and it doesn't shift back and forth as often. One of the traits of the intellegent transmission is to shift on hills to prevent a change in vehicle speed and sometimes slow the vehicle down if it's coasting...
That's all I remember about it and even that's probably wrong..
