I had to replace the battery and ever since, I can not reset the clock. I've reset it a few times in the past, but now it won't bring up the reset clock display after pressing the clock looking button. Please help!

If you have your owner's manual, review it otherwise go online to GMs site for e-copies of owner's manuals.

I have read the owners manual. It does not offer a solution. I have gone through the steps outlined in the manual several times with no luck.

There are two memories in most radios; preset stations and clock. Both powered at all times until the car battery dies or replaced. There should be a radio fuse. Try removing it for 10 seconds then put it back. With the ignition switch in ACCessory position, turn on radio and see if preset stations are erased. Yes: try resetting clock. No: you'll have to remove the radio and disconnect all wiring connections to remove power to the radio. Wait a few seconds then reconnect wiring. Turn radio on; preset stations should be erased and resetting the clock should be be possible.
Disconnecting the car battery or wiring connections to the radio effectively removes memory power. The ignition switch distributes power to the electronics and radio. radio memory for stations and clock have a separate 12v wire HOT all the time and use very little power. Two power inputs to the radio; switched power and memory power. Removing all power to the radio usually results in erasing preset stations and clock resetting (12:00 and flashing?). Losing all power lets the radio discharge back to its factory state and may reset radio electronics to allow adjusting the clock. |
