You know you drive a Saturn when, people ask if that is a foreign car?

You know you drive a Saturn when you drive one that is not on an Opel platform.

You know you drive a Saturn when everybody elses fenders and doors are dented and rusted and yours are not because they are polymer.

You know you drive a Saturn when it is 13 years old, has over 250 K miles or if you are Luke, over 500K miles and it still looks and runs like it did when it was new.

...
1999 SC-2 280,000 miles -mine now also dead, RIP

You fill up at self serve gas stations and while it is filling, pop the hood to make sure you have some oil left.....and you keep 2 quarts in the trunk....After the oil check you tug on the wiper blades to make sure they aren't ready to fly off again.....

You constantly stare at the car after it is washed and admire the way it still looks like new.....

You get upset if your highway gas mileage drops below 35 MPG.....

You almost always check your gas mileage after every fill up......and usually smile....

If something goes wrong, you don't immediately panic because you know the folks on this site will help you out with your questions.....

You really don't think that much about getting a new car.........

You have to crank the radio up to full volume at Florida Turnpike speeds in order to hear what they are saying... (applies to S-Series only)

You have a 18 year old, ding-free car.

You have a car that is a tree or deer magnet (applies to Hokie).

You have an I.V. drip bag setup mounted to the hood of your car, but instead of saline solution or medicine it's full of engine oil.

You're not particularly concerned with oil brand name (or even grade) because it's not going to be in there long enough to matter anyway, by God...

You consider road, wind and engine noise "feedback"

You have a very black toothbrush and a can of combustion chamber cleaner in your garage, ready to clean the throttle body when it starts sticking again.

After everything went ethanol I have been consistent with around 30mpg no matter how I drive.

When you park anywhere and don't care because the paint is so old and the doors won't rust if something hits it.

You beat the hell out of the car and it keeps going. (I have no idea why my SW2 still runs, I tried a few time to kill it short of totaling)

Remember those VW ads - guy parks his Jetta at the supermarket, walks toward the door (out of the frame), you hear a shopping cart approaching, guy DIVES back into the frame, stopping the cart JUST before it dings the door. Meant to show how much VW owners love their cars? I always thought a great "answer" to that ad, on Saturn's part, would be a "split-screen", one split showing a remake of the VW ad, and the other split showing the same thing happening to a Saturn, the cart hitting the door, a gentle bounce of the polymer panel, the cart deflects off, the owner looks back at his still-pristine car, shrugs and walks into the store. Or maybe helping the VW guy get up off the blacktop.

...you hunt down an old one because the newer models look like crap, then fly to a different city to buy the old one using a one-way plane ticket, check for all the common issues on the car while giving the current owner a lesson, don't even bother asking them if the ECTS has been changed because you know it hasn't been anyway, and buy a quart of oil and put it in the trunk and drive it 400 miles home that night.
