Default 05 Equinox or 04 Vue?

Not sure which I should get. I found a 05 LT Equinox(24k miles)at the same dealership i'm sending my 03 Vti back to for about 15,900$. Looks like a nice little truck and supposedly is built on the Vue Platform. Cept one's assembled in TN and one's assembled in Oshawa I guess

As far as Vue's go I'd really like to get another one, but the only Vue I've found for similar price is an 04 not an 05.

Just curious, what the differences are between the 2.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

That's an OK price if it's in pristine shape. The major difference is the drivetrain. The Equinox has the GM 3.4L and whatever transmission is mated with that engine on non-Saturns. You can go to www.kbb.com and input the year/model in the used car value section and it will give you some ballpark values and a list of typically available options.

Hopefully, your cousin gave you a full credit on the VUE you're returning....

Good luck!

i usually use the tmv price on edmunds.com
according to them(edmunds) its more reliable of a gauge anyway
huge difference between the 3.4L chevy engine and the "honda" 3.5l ?

The 3.4L gets lower gas mileage and not as fast as the 3.5L engine. The 3.4L engine is made in China, and the Honda 3.5L is made in Ohio.

I personally wouldn't want a car with an engine made in China.

The Equinox does have more interior room from it's stretched Theta chassis. The Equinox's I rode in have a harsh truck like ride. The VUE has always been a better riding SUV.

I'd get the Equinox, to me a year newer is important when buying a used vehicle. Also the '04 Vue is already a out-dated style. The Equinox is more current.

I'd go for the Vue, the power on the 3.4L is no match for the the 3.5L Honda (185 hp vs 248 hp). The automatic Vue has a 5th gear , the Equinox has 4. If you can get past the "dated" look of the '04 Vue I think you'll do better in the long run. Its still too soon to know how well each which truck will serve you in a few years (after many many miles), both models are recent.

Are you kidding? The VUE would be the ONLY choice here... (of course this is a Saturn fans web site after all!)

But seriously, the VUE offers way more bang for the $$ IMO. My '03 is still and has been a great vehicle. Now approaching 100k miles and no problems with just a couple of "issues" along the way. Still "feels" like new!

Best of luck!

AMEN! The polymer's saved me several times in the past year...

got "bumped" at a stoplight- no damage.

got sideswiped while parked on the street- scrapes buffed right out (no dents)

cut the wheel too hard & dragged the front corner through the bushes- scratches buffed right out.

If the Vue's got the Honda V6, that'd be my choice. While I like the interior & exterior styling of the Eek, the Vue isn't exactly an ugly duckling. Yea, the interior is kinda cheap & plasticky looking, but it's also durable & easy to clean- so you're not afraid to use it for those "utility" tasks that it was designed for.

I guess everyone's got their own agenda... but the powertrain in my Vue is really what sold me. The buttery-smooth engine & tranny really lend an upscale feel of refinement.

just decide what's important to you, what meets your needs best, & go for it.

The Equinox would have fared just as well. The bumpers aren't made of steel, but they are painted, which looks so much better than the black plasic crap on the VUE, but came in handy in your case I suppose. So I huess it did fare better, at the expense of looking better the rest of the time.

The Equinox:
-Looks better inside, and out.
-Slightly more interior space.
-One year newer

The VUE:
-Better engine. (If it's the V6, otherwise it's a draw).
-Polymer side panels.
