Default FINALLY a decent turbo

The saturn motorsports turbo is by all means a good looking turbo kit but you can't up the boost. Gude has a decent looking turbo kit capable of 20PSI and a claimed 285 ponies. Someone get it so you can kick the redlines ASSES. HA then laugh that u have less money invested.

I didn't see a price, but since I paid a bit for my ION2 with the extended warantee, it would probably cost more than a RL would. Not to mention my crappy five-speed auto would probably loose its evil computer mind and explode.

HAHA you have a crappy automatic! LOL so do I. But as a daily driver I prefer my ION to be auto while my fun car is manual.

But, you still wouldn't have those Recaro seats.

Although with the money you saved from boosting a regular ION, you could BUY recaro's if you wanted to. J/K.

HAHA...if you want an all around quick, comfortable, well-tuned suspension/handling car then buy the redline. But if you're like me...get a cheap ION, buy the turbo, coilovers/springs, rims, tires, seats, and tune the thing yourself. Out of that u have a quicker, better handling, interior/seats customized to your own exact liking, for about the same cost perhaps a bit more if you get top quality stuff in it. Then when you're done you can say "hey I MYSELF made that a sweet car, I didn't just buy it like that".... So as this point has been argued a million times, I guess its just preference, mechanical ability, and the amount of time u have to work on the car. By the way, about the recaros, I would rather buy sparcos that fit my body better!!!

The problem with boost and other performance mods on a regular Ion is you are almost guaranteed to lose factory warranty and with boost you have to really know what you are doing and trust the maker for any possible problems and issues with the kit, install, and function.

After the warranty is gone and if you plan on keeping the Ion I think it would be fun messing around and modding it, however at that point the cost of the modifications could very well be a good downpayment on a new car or a large chunk of a 2-3 year old used car with great performance.

Do you want performance and a warranty to back it up, or not?

Both ways work, just different means and the turbo side could get expensive if engine problems develop.

But you'd have a car that you can't just go to a dealers lot and buy, making it unique.

Man, that's a lot of work! I'm glad Saturn put out the Redline in which all the work has already been done for me.

You see thats exactly what I said! Some people would rather have it done for them, some have more fun doing the work/mods than actually having them, some people would LIKE to do the work themselves but just don't have the time or resources. Its ALL personal preference.

I do understand the warranty problem.

i've only read the first page, im lazy ok, but i have to say that i prefer having the ion with the proper tuned steering, as i have read that the other ions arent as great. i dont have anthing to complain about with my car. my opinion thats all.

btw, you're better off with the 4 wheel disc brakes from the get go either way
