Default An Inexpensive Mod for the Mod section

So this wasn't exactly my idea, my buddy kinda did it first but I decided to do something pretty similar. Since all kinds of fiberglass can get expensive and take up lots of trunk space I decided to sink my amp into the floor of the trunk.

First I cut up a new floor board making it a little wider so it would fall like the original one. Then I suspended the amp with four bolts and nuts rather than screws so it wouldn't fall off. Then I made a new Service parts sticker and used packaging tape to make it look more stock.

Its not completely done yet because I still need velcro to get the carpet to stick to the wood so nothing slides around, then i need to re-bolt my sub box down, but basically here is how it came out. Let me know if you think it looks cool, alright, gay, or whatever your opinion may be.

Thats where I had mine screwed, I just wanted something a little different, as for the damage possibility, in the next day or 2 im going to put plexiglass over top of the amp to prevent that.

Don't know if that amp has one or not but I used to have a Soundstorm amp that had a fan built in and you didn't want to put that thing in an enclosed space like that or it would overheat and fry it. Just a thought...

This is my concern as well. However, I bet you could wire in some 12v fans and a couple of ports out of the way in the back or sides for ventilation. You could also put them in some PVC to direct the air flow, one drawing in, on pushing out. Some screening material over the top would help protect it.

There is a built in fan on the right side of the amp, it blows upwards and underneath is basically gutted. Took the spare tire and jack and all out awhile ago, so not too concerned about heating problems. I've had that amp for years now and it works like a champ, never had any problems with it.

I think its looks pretty legit and gives some protection incase of break ins. What I did was build a small table basically that covered the self where the rear speakers sit and mount my 3 amps and 1 fan and fuse block to. Leaves the amps pretty hidden and makes the set up look cleaner since no wires show.
