Default Component Speaker Changes with the AAS

I was reading a new issue of Car Audio magazine and it had me thinking about upgrading to new FRONT components for better sound.

But, I'd like to add components in the rear too.

Has anyone tried switching your fronts to your backs and see what happens as far as fittage?

Unless you add an amp to the new front separates, you probably wont notice a huge difference (stock amp is only pushing 20Wpc).

The current separates are pretty good quality. The imaging is great.

Also, remember less is better in the rear. The rear is for fill only.

Take my advice and pickup an Infinity Basslink. This dramatically enhances/improves the AAS system; it simply adds an element of 'fullness' that's hard to describe unless you hear it with your own ears.

Default components

This is what i added to my car, although i didb't have a stock amp.

These are infinity componenets that i added after removing the stock speakers.

This is the 400W 4 channel amp that i added.

I installed 5 1/4 polk gr5's in the rear, but they are too small to handle very much.

I think i'm going to yank 'em and add 1/2 inch spacers and go with a nice pair of 6 inch speakers.

Hope this helps.

Tommy

Looks nice Tommy.

Are you using the high-levels on the Amp with the factory radio?

Incorrect. The front is a Component set of 6.5's. THey are also raised about 3/4" off the door sheet metal to make room for the window which was a major problem when installing my JL's.

THe Back is 5.25" speakers. No spacer needed. Jl Coax back there.

I've got an AM HU, but I don't have any amp going to any of my 4 JL speakers, and they simply sound amazing. I do plan on amping them, but they sound sweet right now as it is.

A HU was my first upgrade and that made a huge difference.

Thanks,

Actually no,
I'm running a clarion DXZ835MP HU and I'm using the passive crossovers that came with the speakers. I adjusted the output on the Amp for Hi-pass and then adjusted the amount of mids that i wanted to come through and the crossovers do the rest.

Here's a pic of the radio:
