Default 17" wheels and tires

I have a 2000 LS1 with two bent rims. Original size 195/65/15. I have the option of getting a set of 2001 Cad. Catera alloy rims and tires for a very good price. The rims are 17 with 225/50/17 tires. I know the bolt pattern is the same, (5x110), but will the wheel/tire combo fit without clearance problems? I'm sure it isn't too tall, (overall diameter 24.98 to 25.85), but width might be the problem. Stock section width is 7.67", new tires - 8.85". Will these fit?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Obviously this was a long time ago, but did you ever put those Caddy wheels on your L Series? I'm in the same position as you were and am looking for the same answer.

it'll fit fine. I have 17" rims with 215/50R17 tires and I'm lowered and I still have clearance. you'll be fine.

Awesome, that is good to hear. What tires should I throw on these wheels? They came off an '06 Pontiac G6, which calls for 225/50R17's, but with the stock suspension of my L series, would something like 225/55R17 be better? Any other suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks again!

If it helps, I currently have 225/45 17 tires with no clearance issues.
