Default Fuel pressure test gauge problem

I was using the fuel pressure gauge #92699 from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/fuel-in...ter-92699.html that I bought 2 weeks ago and it kept leaking where the hose goes into the gauge. I was wondering if anyone else had this same problem. I would think that the hose just screws into the gauge. I even tightened it more when it leaked the first time. When I said it leaked, I don't mean dripping, I mean fuel was slowly pouring out! Did I just get one with a bad hose? I can't find my receipt. I hope they don't give me any problems.

Use some teflon tape like one of the reviews says to

You aren't the first and probably won't be the last to have issues with Harbor Freight products. As hazardous as it is using it, either replace it with or without a receipt or toss it.

About the only solution you may have is when there are multiple hoses to interchange, perhaps you need to check for an O-ring to fit between the hose and gauge? The kit may have only one O-ring...........................

*The CPS is the heart of the entire EFI system. No cps = dead EFI system*
*There's more to a/c than just a few cans of refrigerant*
*There's more to brakes than just replacing parts*

Sears sells a nice Actron kit for right around $40. Twice that of the Harbor Freight unit, but it's a much nicer gauge. Like all fuel pressure testers should, the Actron has a pressure relief and bleed off hose. The HF unit doesn't.

Or as all of the reviews say, use some teflon tape. Personally, I would spend the extra 20 on a nicer setup.

Just unscrew the hose at the gauge and put a wrap of teflon tape on it and re-attach. If it is leaking between the fitting and the hose carefully cut the collar off the hose and use a hose clamp. That fixes the leak.

I tried the teflon tape today and the gauge did not leak. I have around 50 PSI on the car while it is running. When finished I took the hose off of the gauge and the tape cleaned off easily. Then for fun I looked at the gauge directions (more thoroughly this time) and at the top of page 5 I saw them say to use pipe compound or teflon tape. Thats what I get for rushing without reading the directions!

Well it was on page 5, after 4 pages of "Safety Warnings". Only on page 3 in the electronic version though.

Your pressure is fine for a 98+ car.
