Default Monroe Reflex struts on a RL?

Has anyone ever put the Monroe Reflex front struts on a Vue RL? And if so, how did they fit (ie: are they the exact same size) and how did they feel (ie: sloppy, bouncy or good)?

The HCZ strut option is pretty pricey and I'm not sure it's worth it for a 10 year old car....

At the same time I don't want it to drive/handle like a piece of crap after the install of Monroes...

Looking for feedback from any fellow RL owners that may have done this. Tx,

I'm running Monroe Reflex both front and back on my 2004. The struts are the same size. As far as I can tell the only difference between the struts on the RL and base Vue is dampening. I bought the car with 90k so I'm not sure how the originals performed, they were pretty well worn. I'm happy with the Monroes overall. You will want new strut mounts too and use your existing springs.

Do yourself a favor and get the GM Part #15269823 strut mount kit. It'll update your strut mounts to the later design with larger contact area/bearing. I also went with KYB's, but that was based on the fact that I am also installing Megan Racing lowering springs. I put Reflexes on the wife's Commander and they do just fine, but that's a heavier truck with a V8.

The Monroe Reflexes I just put on are a bit stiffer than the stock and ride about an inch higher. Of course, this is comparing to the OEM shocks I removed, which might have worn out some.

I could have gotten KYB from Shock warehouse for a bit less than Monroe, but the KYB's I put on my Cobalt were smaller and thinner than the OEM shocks I replaced.

So the Reflex didn't make the RL ride any harsher or more abrupt? Because RL's already ride stiffer than the base model (I had one 4 years ago).

What's the difference? I don't seems to have any issue with the strut mounts now.

You may already have the updated strut mount design (just noticed you had an 06). The earlier ones had a smaller contact surface area and a smaller/weaker bearing (I believe) which lead to a higher rate of strut mount faluire and clunky suspensions. If your car doesn't already have the update the only way you can do it is with that GM kit as aftermarket kits are missing a few necessary pieces needed for the switch.
