Default BCM timing after key is turned off

Good morning,

Does anyone know how long the BCM in an 06 Vue 2.2 is active before timing out after the ignition is turned off and all doors are shut? Trying to track down a parasitic draw and want to ensure I wait the proper time for the BCM to time out.

Thank you

Are you aware that the ecm, bcm and other modules are never fully powered off with each one having live memory requiring trickle current (in milliamperes)? What does occurs are things like powering courtesy lights (headlights, marker lights, dome light) for about 20-30 seconds before the bcm timer runs out. Doorlocks take a few seconds of command from the bcm. Outside of timed courtesy lights, the bcm should go into standby mode in a few seconds in daytime conditions where headlights aren't needed and only the dome light remains lit for 20-30 seconds. From most service manuals, the total current used for minimum power (memory to each module) amounts to less than 0.075 amp or 75 milliamps as measured from battery negative.

Thank you. That is solid information to know is I track this down. I did find them my battery was weak and needed replaced. I replaced it this weekend and to my Avail after replacing the battery the radio will no longer come on. I checked all the fuses and all we're good. I check for 12 volts at all fuses and had 12 volts. Pulled the radio and checked for 12 volts at radio connection and had 12 volts. So I'm pretty sure my radio is fried. Not sure if that could have been the parasitic draw that I was looking for. I will run some tests and see if the parasitic draw has been eliminated now the radio has been removed.

I have found that the various modules will consume more power in the first 2-3 seconds after the key is off. However, if you have a stereo with a CD player, those things suck power. For some reason they tend to shuffle the CD mechanism around after you shut off (maybe to eject any disc that may have been left)

If I"m doing a parasitic draw test I'll always leave a jumper across my gauge for the first 10 seconds or so to protect the fuse.

This is old post but could come up in future searches.

There's some good parasitic draw info in this thread (see document listed in post #5):
