2002 VUE 3.0L
Default Broken Rear Spring...common??

Today I was replacing a right rear hub assembly on the GF's '02 Vue V6 and noticed that the coil spring was snapped on the upper most coil. Is this common? Any leads on aftermarket springs. Or is this a Dealer item. I checked online parts stores and come up empty

Anyone know the OEM part # 2002 Vue V6 AWD

I remember once making a left turn and I heard a "bang" noise. I looked underneath but could not find anything. This makes me think I should take one more close look. Did your GF ever remember hearing any noise?

Yes, the right rear clunks over bumps at times

Anyone here have parts PDFs? I could use the OEM part # for the rear springs

Looks just like the spring failure I had on my LS1 on the front. Mine had to be from the dealer and come in pairs. I think they were $250 for the springs. Maybe you can check some on line parts stores

Most of the time springs just get worn out and sag, but sometimes they break. Put some new shocks in when you change the springs (always replace such parts in pairs) and the rear suspension will feel like new.
I would say spring breakage on the VUE is not common at all, but it can happen on any car at any time.

I installed new shocks last year and you are correct....rode like new.

Ended up taking about 1 hour to replace the spring.

Had to:
1. Jack up VUE
2. Place jack stand under frame.
3. Remove wheel
4. Place jack under lower control arm and jacked slightly
5. Remove bolt from bottom of shock
6. remove nut from bottom of sway bar end link
6. remove bolt + nut from lower control arm/knuckle
7. Carefully lower jack to release spring tension
8. decided to remove rubber jounce bumper to ease spring R&R
9. Reverse and torque to factory specs

Hi, I have a problem removing the sway bar end link because theres no room to get a air impact gun and it turns when I try to remove it. It's the Allen wrench one, which means I have to use a Allen wrench to hold it when I loosen the nut, but the problem is that the hole is so rusted the Allen wrench won't hold the bolt when i turn it. I'm thinking of grinding it off and replacing it with the new one I have. Any thoughts?? Took me 3 hrs to do one side of replacing because of that darn swaybar link pin!! Grrr
