Default Buying a new used Engine. Advise.

2001 SC2 Automatic DOHC

I am looking to buy a new used engine for this car.
I found a guy who will swap for a reasonable price.

How in the heck do I know which engine to buy?
Will any S series DOHC Engine fit from 200-2002 years?
The swap list on here is too complicated. Is there a Dummies 101 version?

...
I read, I learn, I try!

The intake and exhaust of your engine fit the 00-02 head. The exhaust also fits the 99 head but the intake is a bit more work. All of your sensors will swap to any DOHC you drop in.

What year engines are you looking at? That makes this easier.

The car it's a 2001 SC2 DOHC. that's all I know. so if I find an engine from those years from any S-Series.. like a sedan or from a wagon... it will fit? I can't get any more information because I have no idea. I am looking for the easiest way to make sure it will fit.

Just make sure it's from a 00-02 s series. Wagon, sedan, coupe, don't matter.
