2001 SC1
Default Cruise Control after a swap

I was wondering if there was any way possible to fix my cruise control. I swapped in a 2002 DOHC in to 2001 sc1 last year. I still have the 2001 5spd, and I am using a 2002 DOHC PCM and BCM from another car. Is there any way possible to get the factory CC working again? I was thinking of wiring an aftermarket one to the factory controls.

I'm working on it myself. The ratios are hard coded in the pcm. So far all I can think of is a circuit in line with the vehicle speed sensor that sends out a pulse that makes it looks like it has the 5th gear ratio the pcm is expecting...

Of course your speedo and odo will be (more) off as a result.

Note: I talked to the service guys at the dealer and didn't get anywhere.

That's an ambitious project skewbe. remedys short of doing something like skewbe has in mind or going with an aftermarket CC, you'd need to swap a transmission from a DOHC in there to get it to work. The PCM uses the gear ratios to determine that you've pushed in the clutch. If they're way off already, it's not going to let the cruise control work.

...
There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action.

the cruise control works excellently in my manual trans-swapped 1991 SL2.

although in the early years, the cruise module was separate from the PCM and there was no BCM involved. i also do not use a clutch start switch, so i don't know if my cruise would turn off if the clutch pedal is in: kinda scary ...

Audiovox makes an aftermarket cruise control one can buy through JC whitney.

Pay the extra ten bucks and get the "electric" one that doesn't need vacuum.

Hooking this up to your stock switch will be next to impossible as the stock switch uses "resistive multiplexing". But the kit will include a switch.

Part of the problem may be that the DOHC PCM may not have been programmed with cruise.
I think though that the main problem is that you have a DOHC PCM with a SOHC trans. The PCM expects a certain RPM at a certain road speed. If it does not see that then the cruise will not work.
