Default VUE V-6 Timing belt replacement interval

Can one of you look in the owners manual and let me know the replacement interval for the timing bet on the newer V-6 VUE?

THANKS!!!!

It's 100K on the 3.0 V6, and IIRC 105K on the 3.5.

I was told that it actually has a timing chain and not a belt therefore the additional mileage for change is allowed. Is that true?

Nope. Honda V6s have belts.

The L81 has a belt, too. Only the 2.2 liter VUE has a chain.

If you enjoyed Meccano toys, Erector Sets and Tinker Toys as a kid you will have a real treat in store when your 3.5 V6 reaches 105,000.

Here is a link to the gory details
http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/showt...threadid=19972

The brave guy who attempted the valve adjustment together with a timming belt replacement “ended up breaking a rib bone” removing the crank pulley.

He also came to the following conclusion.

“Unless you are fascinated with motorwork, I don't think all the effort is worth the minor benefit in the off-chance that the valves are off-tolerance. I think it makes more sense to leave it alone until you need a full-blown valve job - which would make much more performance difference than a valve gap adjustment, especially on a 4-valve per cylinder engine. The timing belt replacement is necessary to prevent catastrophic damage, but valve adjustment should be considered to last the life of the engine head. Just my humble opinion.”

Wrench Re: VUE V-6 Timing belt replacement interval

Those who undertake the timing belt replacement on the Honda V6 might want to dedicate a couple of days for this job. I just did the same on my wife's 2000 Accord with the 2.3L 4 cylinder. It ain't easy. The hardest part of the job is breaking the crankshaft pully bolt loose.

Either the Honda tool that fits into the socket recess or a chain type pipe wrench around the crankshaft pully will be needed to prevent the bolt from turning. You'll also need about 3 ft of pipe on the end of your breaker bar for leverage.

Glad both of my Vue's have the 2.2L with the timing chain!

Thanks all! Im bringing the wife to check out the VUE tonight. The dealer offered me a GREAT trade in on my vehicle but Im not quite sure Im happy with the interior quality and drivers seating position/room. I have a hard time finding a place for my left arm while driving. I'll let her make the descision.

I find the top of the door the perfect place to rest my arm when I have the windows down

Yes, I notice the same but in winter that might be a problem.

Mine rests fine with the window up, too - the windowsills aren't too terribly narrow.
