2007 AURA XR
Default Saw 1st other owner's car

Didn't find the owner, will look in the morning. In the entrance of Dallas Omni hotel, new silver - like mine - temp tags. Great feeling to finally see another one. If I find it in the moring - I am going to leave my card with the form address on the window. First other one I have seen on the road, so to speak. Have not seen one since buying mine over 1, 000 miles ago. After driving in Dallas rush hour on freeways - I love this car, now I know why I wanted the "big" six.

Our dealer has 12 Auras on the lot. I've only seen one around town, a pretty Golden Cashmere. Don't normally like beige cars, but it looked pretty good with the all the chrome trim! Any idea when the Aura will come out with an E-85 capable engine?

I don't know if it will. E-85 isn't all it's cracked up to be as when using E-85 you get pretty bad fuel mileage and unless there is about a 35 to 45 cent a gallon difference between E-85 and regular unleaded you're actually losing money using E-85.

E85 may have more problems. Underwriter Laboratories has pulled their certification on E85 gas pumps. Apparently the ethanol causes the internal metal to corrode very quickly, causing leaks and safety hazards.

The problems comes in that a lot, if not most, municipality's standards and safety departments won't certify or allow non-UL approved gas pumps to be used in gas stations.

I knew of the lower gas mileage, but driving only 2,000 miles a year, it's not an issue. Didn't know about the UL pulling their certifications of E85 pumps, however. I really want to do my part to NOT support the terrorists, but not at the expense of my car! I wrote GM yesterday about the E85 and the Aura. I am still waiting for a reply.

I've seen 3 other Aura's in Cincinnati besides mine, if you don't count the one i saw being driven out of the dealership 10 minutes before I drove mine out.

2 Silver, 1 White, and one Beige, along with my Black one. I do not know the ratio of XRs to XEs.

It's got to start somewhere.

I like your taste in cars

I've yet to see another Aura on the road in this city of a million, so still enjoying the exclusivity. I did see a nice big billboard on the way to work advertising "Saturn's new Aura". Lots of commercials on TV and in the papers too. I'm actually trying to get a local radio jockey to check out my car, as he publicly makes fun of Saturns on the air, particularly of his co-host who drives one. My perception changed, so I think I can do the same for him.

E85 isn't friendly in the winter either. Hard to start - if at all. Even with the huge subidies (around $.70/gallon) The lower price is pretty much of a wash with the 30% reduction in fuel economy. Using this value, and basing the price of regular unleaded (which in MN already has 10% ethanol) at $2.25/gal. E-85 would have to be priced around $1.73/gal.

FWIW: The US imports much more oil from Canada than it does the middle east.

After a month of not seeing a single Aura other than mine, I saw two today...an XR and an XE. I pulled up beside the XR and the dude gave me a thumbs up. I gave him the OK symbol and said NICEEE back to him. Now a co-worker wants one too and asked me to help convince her husband...piece of cake.

What I can't believe is how it seems almost everyone here has one now. Hopefully, I'll be adding myself to the list of Aura owners in the next few months or so.

I haven't seen one on the road yet here in San Diego. Boo hoo.

I get the feeling that they're selling OK here though. There just isn't enough on the road yet to chance seeing one.

My replacement XR will be here next week also. Can't wait. Got the Midnight Blue with Morroccan leather. Original XR was Bronze Pewter (also very nice) with same leather.
