1997 SW2
Default 97 SW2 Lack of power when hot

I have a 97 SW2 with 222K. In the early morning and when the sun is going down at night, it seems to have plenty of HP. When the outside temp is warm and the car has been running for a bit, HP seems to be down and the car is doggish. AC on or off has only minor effect and engine temp as indicated on the guage is always OK.

Any ideas, or is this what I should expect from a car with this mileage?

Normal tune up stuff is up to date...plugs/wires, PCV, fuel filter, air filter. Fuel economy is 29-33MPG.

Thanks,
Chris

klaus: Made you look. Yea the ECTS, if the old plastic one, can cause all kinds of problems. It is usually the first item that forum members will ask new members if they have changed/checked it.

Where is it located? Is there an impedance measurement for testing? I have no engine codes, would it produce one if it were marginal.

Thanks...

dont worry about the impedance test, because these things crack and dont send the right signal. Its located on the right side of the head, underneath the radiator hose. Should have a connector on it.
