It's a piece of software. So far nobody cracked it and I doublt anybody will.

Unless you go and buy, build, wire, and program megasquirt or any other aftermarket computer, you're not going to be going faster than what you governor says.

And I hope you're not doing this on public road.

An aftermarket programable PCM. Unless, you've modded the engine to take it, I strongly advise against it.

120 mph in a car made of plastic seems fast enough to me. that is only my opinion, though. i wouldnt try to get much faster than that. not in a saturn, anyway.

I do believe that a first gen coupe with a certain type of wheels and a manual tranny can do 130 ish? Factory. Someone correct me. If you want faster than that, about all you can do without doing a custom PCM, is to get a computer out of an automatic for the same year, and put in the manual transmission out of a single cam saturn of the same year, and get some taller tires. If you're lucky, you'll probably hit 145 mph, before your car explodes and destroys itself from the governor and rev limiter being non existent. Good luck with that.

Someone chime in if I'm wrong, but I do believe it cuts fuel at the "governor" limit.

I've hit the limit once, going downhill in the TransCanada in NB, with no one around. I didn't even mean to do it, as I was cruising at 140 kph, when I started going downhill and accelerated, with the speed cut off coming on. However, I surely did not hit 193 kph (120 mph).

Happy Re: top speed

when you bump against the 124 MPH limiter, the fuel injectors switch OFF momentarily until you slow down, then they switch back ON again. if you continue to do this 2 or 3 more times, the PCM may shut the engine OFF completely and you will coast down from 124 MPH in silence. Don't ask how I know this...

Nice. Highest I got in my 91 was 110. Squeezed past the 108 limiter for a split second. I would've hit 130, but due to my "wonderful" geartooth rims, it was programmed low at the factory.

I think I recall he took that picture himself, aiming the camera without looking through it. Got a lucky shot. Is that right Eric?

I'd do it, on a straight stretch. But my car ran in a true straight line for up to, oh say, 600 yards. It was nice. I hardly ever had to do those tiny little steering adjustments. I just held the wheel in one position, and it drove straight. Even if I let go, it still did.
