Default The Relay Webcast Has Started

The Relay Webcast Has started...

You all can go to http://media.gm.com/ to get to it. It requires Windows Media Player and IE. (It wouldn't play in Firebird / Mozilla)

The interiors look similar. However the Buick is, of course, more luxurious.

Sales Volume is unknown at this time.

Segment is 1.1 Million Units.

Plant has capacity of 250,000, Doraville GA is where it will be built.

----

AWD versions will be available. 17" wheels are standard

----

Vortec High Feature V6. 200HP 220 Ft/lbs in the Buick and Saturn

----

Buick will be slightly above the Rendevous in pricing.

Saturn will price according to competetors.

Bob said "Far better value than we have had in the previous GM Mid-Van Segment". So there will be lower prices than the current vans.

----

Around 10% of the vehicles should be AWD.

Cross shopping is expected to be quite low between the vans.

The pricing and styling and such they are saying the following.

Chevy, Saturn, Pontiac, Buick.

----

Bob says the interior is not final. But they demonstrate the intent. He wants things to be a lot less glossy and more refined. He says this is one of the best Midvan Interior's in the market. But he says GM will still strive to be better.

----

Ahhh Polymer Panel Question:

"They want to grow the brand"

"IT DOES NOT SIGNAL A CHANGE!!!! IT WILL BE MORE OF A MIX IN THE PORTFOLIO ON THE PRODUCTS"

----

There are plans, eventually, to maybe build other brands in Springhill, TN. Mainly powertrain. DAMN... Bob Lutz just said "The customer could care less about Saturn being a seperate company from GM". As needed, for future product portfolio, Springhill may build other future products.

HOWEVER there is no firm plan to do so.

----

They are happy with the HP. It will give best in class Fuel Economy. And 0-60 times that are competitive with the Honda, Ford, and Nissan mid-vans.

They said these are the High Feature V6's.

----

Low Engine and Suspension noise. Better body stiffness.

----

Biggest opportunity will be Buick and Saturn.

----

Expected range is best in segment. The same as the current GMT2001

Production starts Fiscal Q4 2004 and Sales in September/October

----

8 Cup Holders. 4 of them can hold Big Gulps :P

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

What were you guys thinking. I know the cost of a newly designed car can be astronomical, but rebadging a Buick is a pathetic Venture - pun intended!

Seems to me that there is a lot of hype already going into the Relay. Its a mini van. It will not be a super seller for saturn in my opnion. At best it will do ok.Since the ploymer is gone it really wont be unique from its cookie cutter cousins except for the grille and tail lights and maybe some interior features. I still feel that the key to Saturns future will not be in the Relay or signal. it will be in the new L. The VUE seems to be a proven sucess and the ION needs to get back into the swing of things with the competition. This is were the future of Saturn will be. Not in sports cars or mini vans. A lot will be riding on the new L. Saturn better get it right the next time around.

If you get a non-AWD, will it be FWD or RWD?
