Default ODOM light isn't lighting up

the odom in my 98' saturn sl2 isn't lighting up but the dash is. it's annoying me that i cant figure out how to fix that! anyone have an idea to try?

That's an easy fix, although it's a PITA to do it.
You have to remove the dash pad, (2 screws above the glovebox) the the instrument cluster and replace the bulb for the odometer. It's the same bulb as the rest of the cluster bulbs, and I would advise that you replace them all while you're at it...You know as soon as you replace the odo bulb and put it all back together the other bulbs will burn out.

You need to drop the column in the '98 to get that instrument cluster out.

There should be several unused bulbs (abs, back tailgate, traction control, ect) Just swap those into the most used lights (odometer and daytime running light indicator)

Is '98 any different than '95-'97 for this? For the extra effort needed to get the column lowered I find it easier and faster to not bother.
Just pull the bezel off the cluster, worm it out, then do the same with the cluster while being careful to not put too much pressure on the odometer button.
Wish I had a video camera to show how I do it...

Take out the left bolt and back the right one off until almost out.
