Default Door lock problem

My left rear passenger door lock is having problems. Specifically, it refuses to lock or unlock automatically. I assume this is the fault of the door lock actuator from what I've read. To be more specific, the lock "tries" to move, but it looks like the actuator doesn't have enough force behind it lock or unlock the door. However, it does occasionally work in cooler weather.

My questions are: Am I correct in my diagnosis? And, if so, how much do you think it will cost for me to get it fixed?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

You are correct. Dealer's charge in the $250-300 neighborhood.

It is a crap design that seems to be designed to fail because the actuator is too small and week to stand prolonged use. Plus I am sure you noticed the other design flaw, unlike most cars out there, the Aura and Malibu have the lock button on the opposite side of the door near the latch meaning that the only way to open it is to crawl into the backseat to open the door unlike every other car that is out there which you can reach around and unlock it manually

The dealer covered my faulty drivers side rear door actuator. Do you have a warranty? If not it will cost you a bit of money at a dealer. Even the part itself is not really cheap

Good luck

The part can be had for 60-70 bucks, IIRC.
