Default taking off your cat worth it?

I know youll get more hp but doesnt it make your exhaust smell bad? would getting a high flow cat have any noticable hp gain? gimme your opinions. thanks

no, your exhaust won't smell bad. you'll just smell some unburnt fuel. you shouldn't be back there sniffing it anyway. a high flow cat should help if it's a bottle neck in the system after you replace the header, pipe after the cat, and muffler.

On my old '97 SL2 I had the headers, SPS cat-back exhaust, and a Flowmaster Delta Muffler. I also had a flanged straight-pipe made where I could unbolt the cat and slip in the straight-pipe for "off-road" purposes.

After deleting cat: Exhaust smelled great like old muscle cars, noticeably louder exhaust, about 0.2 sec quicker in the 1/4 mile (measured at a dragstrip), and improved fuel economy on the highway by 2-3MPG at 70MPH. It passed emissions to (although the NO emissions were borderline high).

Just remember this is illegal and should not be used on the street.
