Default Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly-Front/Rear

I was going to replace the brake rotors/pads on my 1996 SL2 this weekend so I figured I'd do the bearings as well. I saw on AutoZone's website they sell a complete wheel bearing/hub assembly as well as just the bearing. Does replacing the entire hub eliminate the need to replace the individual bearing? If so, how complicated is replacing the entire hub? Is it even worth replacing the hub? The car has 111,000 miles on it.

Or should I just try to replace the bearings, it's been my experience that bearings are the biggest pain in the @ss ever and rarely come out without a fight.

I'd replace just the bearings. Either way, the bearing has to come out of the knuckle. I'd take the knuckles to either a machine shop or the Saturn service department and have them do it- unless you have a hydrualic press and know how to use it.
Not a Saturn.

If you are not having problems with the old bearings I would leave them alone and not touch them.

This isn't like the old rear wheel drive days where one would pay attention to the bearings when the rotor was off.

One needs a heavy press and special arbor to do the bearings; I'd get the entire knuckle assembly if I could. You may need an alignment after doing this though.

Thanks for the info.. I'm going to just do the pads/rotors and forget the bearings for now. There's no reason to change them, I just figured after 110k miles and 10 years it'd be time. But I don't think it's worth the headache if it's not needed.
