Put the mags from my dead SC2 on out SL2. Broke two lug bolts on one wheel Had to have a friend replace the lugs.

It is sad to see the SC2 parked. Hoped someone here would take her.

Put a new aftermarket stereo in the 00' SL2. Didn't work. Then smelled burning. All the plugs are correct and worked on another stereo but not this one.

Woke up to both a huge puddle of oil under the car and the SES light on...cleaned up and re-installed the oil drain plug, no more leak. SES light was a bit more involved, had to replace the catalytic converter, no more light. Happy car AND owner once again!

Put in a new aftermarket radio. Usually I stick with the OEM head unit but the stock cd kept skipping (even brand new disk). So I got an HD unit with ipod, USB, etc. and all is well once again

Replaced the radiator last weekend (driver's side tank cracked) but I didn't bleed. So, of course, the thirsty beast decided to fail again. This time the shift cable broke. Changed the cables, (still under warranty from January) cut myself, and gave it a good drink of O+. That should keep it happy for the next 6 months or so.

Fabricated an aluminum mounting bracket for its new UltraGauge. It is mounted just above the radio and just below the fog_light/rear_defrost switches. It's an interesting gadget.

Finally started working to recover the headliner this weekend. Was able to finalize resin repairs to the backing last week and buy the material (black instead of gray, oh well.) The sunroof doors were easier than expected, the headliner was harder. I am NO GOOD at making things pretty.

How in the world are you supposed to get the dome-light area looking right? Mine is only half-stuck and wrinkled. At least it has SOMETHING there now instead of the raw fiberglass that kept rubbing off on my hat and head before. :]

Flushed the radiator and refilled with 50/50 antifreeze.

Damn that little pull out plug for the radiator is a brilliant idea!

Yes. Although the pins on it were a little different. Like instead of going 6 in a row then 2 then 3 it would go 6 then 1 then 3.

The adapter said it fits S-series 00-03 Ion 03-05 Vue 02-04

And yes everything else worked fine.

Photos from my headliner showing all the mistakes I made. Cut the fabric too short, screwed up the map-light area, etc...

At least it'll be functional and reduce cabin noise again!!

Didn't edit fast enough so here are more photos that I forgot to add in the first time. Two are the epoxy repairs to the forward and rear edges where I used reversed clothes-pin clamps and old wiper-blade springs around old grocery bags to hold the fibers together while the resin cured.

Also, the photo demonstrating the nasty wrinkles in the map-light bump.

Later taters,
Trot, the shutter-buggin', frox...

Simple oil change for me. Should be the last one until spring as I'm breaking out the winter car shortly.

The guys and gals (yes that's right, GALS) in the steering & suspension class got to my rear struts and wheel bearings tonight, and when that was finished I did the fuel filter.

Tomorrow when I pick the car up I'll be putting a full tank of gas in...

What did I do to my S Series today? Drove it for the first time in at least 2 or 3 weeks I think..... I'd hate to get rid of it but hardly use it at all any more.

Added half an oz. of U.V. Dye to the oil in hopes something is still leaking and the engine is not burning the entire 1qt. per 3000 miles OCI
...but at ~190,000 miles, it has to start wearing out sometime.

Also, re-read the long thread on Saturn oil usage to make myself paranoid my oil rings are crudding-up.

...and, used my SC2 to dumpster dive
Saw these at the curb and could not resist!
...
Competition Clutch 10Lb. Flywheel. 14 stalls to date (and loving it).
Oil use is 1 ounce per 100 miles with ~230,000 miles on the engine
