Default exterior door trim

I'm exactly sure which forum to post this in but here it goes. one of the black trim pieces that goes on the outside B-pillar broke off and the finish on the others is badly worn. I've been looking online and haven't really found anything. Even getsaturnparts.net doesn't list them. Does anyone know where I can find a decent set? The closest junk yard to me is Hunts Point in NYC but I'm short on time and can't get down there. Any help would be much appreciated. I don't want my Saturn to look junky.

Have replaced both B pillar trim pieces on both sides of my '02. Dealer charges around $20 each, from what I recall.

Once the finish starts to fail, you really have no other option than to repaint them to give them a uniform look again. You should be able to find a replacement for a couple of bucks at a boneyard, and with a $5 investment in paint, will be able to recoat all 4 pieces.

MiSaturn,

Is this the piece that your replaced for $20? See pix - I am talking about the black vertical strip (that has the paint coming off at the bottom, maybe 2" wide).

I was about to try and repaint both sides on my daughter's car. For $20 I would prefer to get new ones. How do they come off? I saw what looks like a torx bolt at the base you can access from the inside door jam.

Thanks,
Chuck

Searched a bit longer and found an answer - see link . Then saw the reply inbetween by Mike - thanks for the quick response. This forum is great!

I'll check my '98 to see if it is rivets or tabs.

What year/model are we talking about here? It says you have a 99 SL2 under your name, is that what this is on? Always good to be sure.

If it is on the '99 SL2, then you can just remove a couple screws & remove that trim piece. Then you just have to decide between trying to track down brand new parts or getting junkyard parts.

Coupes use rivets, sedans/wagons use screws.

It's a '98 SC2.... I think that is what is under my name. Time to find my glasses. 8-) OK I looked back and it is the original poster that has the 99 SL.

Again Mike is quick on the draw, so coupes have rivets. Thanks! Also the Coupe parts are $41... I'll look at them again and may just repaint.

For anyone looking for info about Coupes/SC1/SC2

Look here:

Didn't even know what to call this part or that it was made of glass until now...
